Perzonal War – “Captive Breeding”

Perzonal War has been cranking out melodic thrash metal for more than fifteen years now, but somehow they managed to slip under my radar. Captive Breeding is my first exposure to the band and I was not exactly sure what to expect when I sat down to listen. As a huge thrash metal fan though, I was quite excited to give it a whirl.

The songs are tight, well written and contain lots of thundering drums, intricate melodic guitar parts and powerful vocals making this overall, a good thrash record. The problem for me though is there are plenty of bands out there making good thrash records just like this and after the second time through I’m not sure I can find anything that makes this stand out from the rest of the thrash metal scene.

Don’t get the wrong idea though, Captive Breeding is not a bad disc by any means, and I think that most metal fans will find it enjoyable as I did, but I just don’t think it offers enough to keep me coming back for more.
