Album Review
Ephel Duath – “On Death and Cosmos” [EP]
Italy’s Ephel Duath are another one of those fairly well-known underground bands that I had never previously bothered to check out. As there has been a lot of hype about the group making new music I figured I would spin their latest effort, the EP On Death and Cosmos.

Ephel Duath’s blend of progressive music with death, goth and even little bits of black metal may be hard for the average listener to digest. The songs for the most part are slower and more complex than most heavy bands, so they’ll probably bore the pants off the average listener. However those with longer attention spans, will find on repeated listens a lush and beautiful album that just gushes atmosphere. Truly one of the few bands worthy of the term “thinking mans metal”, this EP needs to be heard by anyone even remotely into heavier forms of music. I look forward to their next full album and plan to check out their back catalog soon too.
