Dischordia are currently destroying Oklahoma City with their progressive death metal tunes. Guitarist Keeno recently gave us some time to talk about the Schecter C-8 Blackjack ATX guitar he uses to pull off some sweet riffs. Read below to find out why this guitar is so amazing.

What one piece of equipment do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Keeno: Without a doubt my signature sound comes from my Schecter C-8 Blackjack ATX. It’s basically my dream guitar.

What about it makes it so important to you?
Keeno: I’ve been exclusively playing Schecter 7 string guitars for over 12 years. I made the switch to the C-8 string about a year ago and it blew me away. It is an amazing instrument.

What are the major pros and cons?
Keeno: Pros: First off, the guitar is beautiful. I have the vintage white model and the way the ebony fret board pops against the white is just sexy. The neck is super smooth, extremely fast, and fits my hands perfectly. The Seymour Duncan Blackout pickups have a warm, smooth, almost jazzy clean tone and a thick, tight, aggressive distortion. This is the perfect sound for our style of progressive death metal. It’s a guitar that plays and sounds perfectly right out of the box. Cons: Nope.

How long have you used this piece of equipment and would you ever change it?
Keeno: I’ve had my 8 string for a little over a year now. I loved it so much I bought a 7 string ATX model as well. The 8 string really opened up my writing and playing to new levels. A part of me wonders how it would play as a 27″ baritone though. Maybe when/if I get endorsed by Schecter they will build me one. (Please?!)

Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Keeno: I like a guitar with some weight to it. I’ve tried some that claimed to have been built for extreme metal and they felt like I could snap them in half. We have a pretty aggressive stage show to match our sound and I need equipment that can take a beating and live to play the next night. The C-8 ATX is just that and a whole lot more.
