Sleepless – “Unsteady Hands” [EP]

I would describe Unsteady Hands as a modern rock record with punk overtones. The Canadian band certainly mixes things up a bit (as far as songwriting goes), running the gamut from slow melodic tunes to harder, edgier, punkier tunes. The latter is where I think the band really excels. I feel they are at their absolute best on the harder tunes: “Anchored,” “If I Were To Say,” and “Heavy Eyes” and can see these songs doing quite well on modern rock radio.

Unfortunately there are only three songs like this on the EP; the other two tracks are slower more melodic tunes, which I feel are good but perhaps not very memorable. Bottom line, for me, Unsteady Hands is sort of mixed bag – I really like the heavier stuff a lot, but the others not so much. If modern rock is your thing, then you may want to check these guys out.
