Album Review
Widow – “Life’s Blood”
I must admit that somehow the North Carolina based metal band Widow had slipped under my radar, so when I received their new release, Life’s Blood, I was truly unaware that I was about to be blown away. This is some of the best power metal I’ve heard in a log time and it definitely caught me by surprise.
I must admit that somehow the North Carolina based metal band Widow had slipped under my radar, so when I received their new release, Life’s Blood, I was truly unaware that I was about to be blown away. This is some of the best power metal I’ve heard in a log time and it definitely caught me by surprise.
All twelve songs on this disc have big, huge riffs, anthemic choruses and more than enough opportunities to pump your fist in the air. It’s very easy to see these songs gaining plenty of airplay on rock and metal stations around the country as most of the songs come standard with at least one unforgettable hook. Even, “Another Fallen Angel”, a tune that hovers in ballad territory, yes contains enough edge and heaviness to it to rock out, is a terrific song.
Honestly everything about Life’s Blood is top notch, including the terrific cover art. I think fans of more traditional power metal will absolutely dig this; I know I do. Pick this one up, you won’t regret it.
