Oshawa, Ontario hardcore act Sleep When You’re Dead has released their debut Directions. As soon as one presses play the song “Muskoka Dinner Jacket” starts up clocking 1:40 minutes of breakdown which abruptly stops single notedly stream into the next song “Hooker Spit”. This track sets the mood for Directions as it’s a slow paced hardcore album with a hint of southern influence. The record speeds up a bit during the song “Blood Red Stilettos” but, once the track ends it winds back down.

Oshawa, Ontario hardcore act Sleep When You’re Dead recently released their debut album, Directions. Opening song “Muskoka Dinner Jacket” kicks things off with about 1:40 minutes of breakdown which abruptly stops as a single note streams into the next song “Hooker Spit” which sets the mood for the rest of Directions.

Overall it’s a slow-paced hardcore album with a hint of southern influence. The record speeds up a bit during the song “Blood Red Stilettos” but, as soon as it began winds back down. SWYD have successfully differentiated themselves from other hardcore acts by performing slowed down hardcore songs. If you’re looking for slow but heavy hardcore, I’d direct them this release.
