Album Review
3 – “The Ghost You Gave Me”
Due to drop on October 11, 2011, The Ghost You Gave Me, is the newest release from the band 3. I was introduced to these guys via their last record and instantly became a fan. From a genre standpoint this is a band that is difficult to categorize because they’re all over the place, seamlessly melding prog rock, metal and pop creating something fresh and different.

At times there are hard-driving metal riffs, and at others I felt like I was smack in the middle of a Yes song. Really this record is a musical journey that covers a lot of territory and does so well. I don’t think there are many bands that could attempt an album of this magnitude and successfully pull it off; but these guys manage to do so because they’re such great musicians.
I’m not a great big fan of prog rock, but with all of these different musical elements I found the whole thing to be a quite exciting listen. The Ghost You Gave Me is definitely a disc worth checking out.
