Recently we had the opportunity to catch up with Austrian-born musician and actress, Dalal Bruchmann. Read up on a lot of interesting things you may not have known about Dalal.
Hi Dalal! As this is your first interview with MaxMuzik, let’s start off with a little background. How did you get into music?
Dalal: I was born and raised in a small village in Austria, Europe. I grew up surrounded by artists; my mom is a painter and was part of the Shakespeare theatre and she used to take me with her to rehearsal…that was really inspiring.
Performing, Music and Art, was a place where I’ve always felt comfortable and challenged at the same time. It was my home. Wherever I was, whatever I did I always tried to surround myself with music. I started playing violin and piano when I was four years old. I loved performing with orchestras! Later on I went to Musical School and taught different choirs as well as writing for them.
For our readers who’ve never heard your music, explain your sound in 5 words.
Dalal: Written with all my heart.
Can you offer insight into some of your musical inspirations?
Dalal: I grew up with a lot of classical music that I still love very much. Jazz was big in my family. I loved listening to Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, The Three Tenors, Mariah Carey, Kate Bush, The Rolling Stones, and there’s been lots and lots of Disney and Broadway tunes. I’ve also always been addicted to movie scores! And I love Danny Kaye!
Earlier this summer, you released the music video for “Taste The Night”. What was that experience like for you?
Dalal: It was a great experience. I love the work behind the camera and it’s wonderful if you have a chance to work with a passionate team! 🙂
The video has since received over 1.2 million views. What was your reaction/thought when you saw it pass one million?
Dalal: I didn’t really believe it because it happened so fast; in the first two days. I’ve gotten so many nice messages and reviews, I’m very happy about that! 🙂
If you could open up for an artist right now, who would it be and why?
Dalal: I would love to open for Rihanna or Jay-Z.
Speaking of shows, what are you touring plans for the rest of the year?
Dalal: I have some upcoming shows in September that I’m really looking forward to! YAY!
What artists would fans be surprised to find on your iPod?
Dalal: Hmmm… interesting question. One of my favorite songs on my iPod is “Take 5” by Dave Burbeck and The Symphony No. 9 in E Minor “From the New World”, composed by Antonín Dvořák is also one of my favorites. Hmm what else… oh I got Irish folk songs on my iPod and a compilation of metal and rock and of course, Danny Kaye. 🙂
Any final thoughts or parting words?
Dalal: My sign is Taurus! 😀
Thank you very much for talking to me MaxMuzik and to everyone reading this interview! 🙂
