CAMERAS Premiere “Defeatiest” Music Video; Announce Los Angeles and New York Shows

Australian natives Cameras premiere their new video for the song “Defeatist” on MTV Hive today in support of their upcoming release ‘In Your Room’, due October 25th. “Defeatist”is the first single from ‘In Your Room’ which will be released on Manimal Vinyl (Warpaint, Bat for Lashes, Sister Crayon and papercranes).

A dark and macabre journey that builds over an epic four and half minutes, “Defeatist” features the joint vocals of Cameras founders Fraser Harvey and Eleanor Dunlop. Their mutual love for layers and interplays is evident throughout, as delicate keys and crisp guitars lines entwine to create a melody that’s as ominous as it is soothing. The band has created a sound that is simultaneously light and dark, atmospheric and haunting.

The concept for the video was conceived by the video’s director, Jens Hertzum, while listening to the songs from the band’s forthcoming album. The clip was shot entirely in the Hunter Valley region, just north of Sydney, Australia. Cameras managed to rope in their good friend Isabella from the Sydney band The Preachers to take the female lead. “It was important for us that we didn’t interfere with what Jens was trying to achieve with the video. We let him take full control of what was happening, I think we’d have only spoiled his idea if we got ourselves too involved.”

Cameras will be making their stateside debut during the month of October in Los Angeles and during CMJ in New York City. Full tour dates are below.
