Catalepsy – “Bleed” [Album Review]

Bleed, the second full-length release from the deathcore band Catalepsy is a super heavy affair with breakdowns galore. I’m not a big fan of the deathcore genre and perhaps this record embodies all of the reasons why. With the exception of Whitechapel, I think most deathcore bands rely way too much on the super-heavy-breakdown cliché that has become synonymous with the genre.

As far as I am concerned, once you’ve heard a few deathcore bands crank out this stuff, you’ve pretty much heard them all. Yes it is really heavy, yes you can snap your neck to it and yes I am sure you can do that crazy looking punching/karate dance thing that is ever so popular at these shows, but I am not sure I can listen to this more than once. I suppose if you are a deathcore fan Bleed might be right up your alley. As for me it’s just a little too much for my tastes.
