When you stop to consider it for a moment, you’ll realize that there are only a handful of musicians that have changed the virtual landscape of the underground/punk music scene and Cave is one of them. I really didn’t know all that much about Cave before I picked up this book and I quickly found myself fully engrossed within the pages. I especially like the interview format as I think this really gives tremendous insight into Nick Cave and the person behind the microphone and the hypothetical mask. I also really enjoyed the input and insight from Cave’s friends and peers, again I really think this adds another dimension to the book and really gets to the heart of who Cave is and what makes him tick. This book also contains numerous, intimate, black and white photos spanning the three decades of Cave’s career.
At the end of the day, “Nick Cave Sinner Saint: The True Confessions” is a good book. I truly enjoyed getting a comprehensive look into one of the most intriguing cultural figures of the last 30 years. This book is a must for fans of Nick Cave or his band the Bad Seeds. I think it would also be of interest to those who would like to learn more about Nick Cave and his immense body of work.
