Album Review
Dream Aria – “Transcend”
Lately, bands fronted by female vocalists have increasingly been making their marks in the rock and metal scenes. Groups such as Within Temptation, Evanescence, Leaves’ Eyes, Tristania and many more have all achieved high levels of acclaim and success while fronted by powerful women. Dream Aria is an up and coming group that further demonstrates that women can rock just as hard as men. The music gender barrier has been knocked over yet again by Dream Aria’s album Transcend.

Instrumentally the album touches base with progressive rock elements. While the instrumentals stay simple, the guitar licks jump out at you giving the instrumental aspect of the album more definition. The music however, is not too complex as it allows for Ann Aria to lay down some dynamic vocal lines. Her voice is captivating, drawing you into the vibe of the music. Once she gets a hold of you, you’re not being released until the end of the album.
Transcend is record to be reckoned with. Dream Aria have outdone themselves with this release, making me want to recheck their older material. Fans of female fronted bands like Blacksky, Mary And The Black Lamb, UnSun and Leaves’ Eyes will really enjoy what Dream Aria have to offer. [ END ]
