The Skinny: 2010 has seen a more focused effort from Orlando-based singer Tarek Kasmi to spur a change. His latest EP, effectively entitled The New Century, gives the music scene a much-needed dose of social awareness in the form of high-energy pop/rock that is politically relevant. Drawing influences from genres as diverse as punk and folk, but always retaining a pop-sensibility, its five tracks address everything from war to corporate control to the problems of adulthood, making Kasmi an artist who is truly worth listening to.
With plans to release a full-length album and tour through as many cities as possible, this year is turning out to be the mere beginning of what will surely become a successful career in the arts. Showing no signs of hindrance or hesitation, Kasmi hopes to spread his message as far around the globe as he can. Being the ambitions and driven individual that he is, it is safe to assume that we can expect no less than that. [ END ]
