Wednesday 13 – “Transylvania 90210: Songs of Death, Dying, and the Dead” [Album Review]
Wednesday 13, the former lead singer of Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison’s side project Murderdolls didn’t want to just “sit around” while Jordison went back to his group Slipknot for recording and touring. So he went on to do what he has always done, make music. He released his first solo album named Transylvania 90210: Songs of Death, Dying, and the Dead to help fulfill part of his contract under his solo artist name, Wednesday 13.

Transylvania 90210 sounds much like that of Wednesday 13’s former groups; Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 (his unsigned band prior) and the Murderdolls. Featuring dark and campy lyrics with haunting guitar riffs, this album as with past, will keep you thinking of Halloween all year round.
With all the morbid lyrics and some harsh lines, this album might not be the happiest or “family friendly” ever released. Tracks like “Bad Things”, “Haunt Me”, “Buried By Christmas” and “A Bullet Named Christ” are perfect examples of his more adult lyrics. Though the rest of the record’s songs have a more light-hearted humor (with a twist of Addams Family), the album overall still retains a spook feel.
All in all this release is a very fun listen and, albeit temporarily, allows you to forget the realities of life. He has offered better material, but Transylvania 90210 is still a solid effort nonetheless.
