The Red Baron

My First Love (04.07.2009)

There is no mistaking what the Red Baron are all about. Great big gang vocals shouting “Our God Reigns” make it apparent this is a Christian Hardcore band. But do not let that put you off. These straight edge guys from Florida can grind out the punk with the best of them. My First Love is an intense, fast and furious, tour de force of a disc that fans of the punk music genre will absolutely dig.

Musically the band hold nothing back as they dish out a full twenty eight minutes of killer hardcore punk complete with the aforementioned gang vocals and more than a few pit friendly breakdowns.

Lyrically they are part of a growing trend of Straight Edge musicians and this is readily apparent in the tune “Not For The Weak” where the singer shouts, “Your crutch lifestyle does not appeal to me/I will stand pure and always stay drug free/This edge is far to strong to break/Free of guilt and free of filth/The life I live leave me fulfilled/pure in mind and pure in heart/Your addiction won’t tear me apart.”

I am a big fan of the hardcore punk genre and I think The Red Baron have constructed a fine collection of songs that should go a long way to making a mark on the scene. Keep your eye on these guys I believe they are destined to rise to the top of the scene in a relatively short period of time. The only downside to this CD is its length, at less than thirty minutes I had just gotten my groove on when the disc came to an end.  [ END ]
