Before The Goldrush (The Covers Project) is a project to benefit Teach For America, an organization dedicated to addressing the educational inequity in America. The mission of Teach For America is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting the leaders of the United States. Teach For America recruits College Graduates to teach in urban and rural public schools and they invest in the training and development needed for these teachers to succeed in the highest poverty communities.

Before The Gold Rush is a collection songs from the sixties and the seventies that have been reworked by up-and-coming artists of today. Remakes of The Beatles, James Taylot, Fleetwood Mac and many others are included on this disc. Packed to the gills with so many familiar songs from masters of the craft this is a digital download that is worth not only owning but also all proceeds go to help fund this unique and worthy cause.

I found all of the tunes very enjoyable and I pretty much enjoyed the whole disc. However being a fan of the Beatles, John Lennon in particular, I especially dug Willoughby’s cover of “Losing You” by John Lennon and Jim Boggia’s rendition of the Beatles “Teen Girl.”

While I realize this is not a heavy metal album it is a very good collection of tunes that will help benefit an even better cause.
