Demo(n)cracy (03.10.2006)
Demo(n)cracy starts with a furious thrasher that features pounding drums, screaming vocals and heavy guitars. This disc is a full on aural assault from the very first note and it does not let up at all throughout the record. Each song on this disc is delivered with an uncompromising intensity that is full of hate and venom typical of the death metal scene.
The production is incredibly muddy with a thick but undefined and unrefined guitar tone that seems to get lost amongst the overpowering and at times overwhelming vocals. A wall of grinding guitars and drums assaults the listener from the very first note and will leave them unable to gain their composure and take a breath until the record concludes fifty minutes later.
At times things get so fast and furious that it feels to me as if the band was on the brink of losing control, similar to riding on a runaway train. Unrelenting in its viciousness this CD seems to be hateful and ferocious just for the sake of fitting in with the genre. The artwork, design and layout are also stereotypical as well. Don’t get me wrong, for an indie act this CD was very-well compiled and the music was quality, but if you’re not into this music, you won’t be into this disc.
I had a hard time listening to this disc as it is a bit too extreme for my liking and I just could not figure out what to make of it. I feel that if you are a fan of other extreme acts such as Trigger The Bloodshed and or With Blood Comes Cleansing than this disc might be for you. Otherwise after a once through you may find yourself like I did, sitting with your mouth wide open, wondering what the hell just happened, trying to figure out how to get those precious 50 minutes of your life back.
