After The Burial

Right off the bat of After The Burial’s newest album Rareform we are introduced to their raw, powerful music. Within the opening second of the first track, “Berzerker” it was clear that this was not a band to be taken lightly. If you love bunnies and rainbows this may not be the band for you, unless you happen to love killing those bunnies and chasing the leprechauns at the end of the rainbows off the edge of a cliff.

The hard-hitting guitar riffs throughout the album are felt instead of heard; I was almost able to feel guitarists Justin and Trent’s axes beating through my chest. I could envision myself laying on the floor in a bloody mess, gasping for my last breath as I beg for salvation.

Guitars aside, the vocals are almost as lethal, the violent tones could take an innocent child and turn them rabid against the world. They have the potential to destroy the thousands that gather for a concert with one simple shriek. They might turn the most innocent god-follower into a blood-thirsty maniac.

After The Burial have talent, they have power, and yet despite their prowess still have the potential to be even better. One would have to be crazy not to purchase this album. Rareform is without a doubt the best hardcore-based CD which I have listened to in months. I hope the only imrpove with time.  [ END ]
