Hemlock

No Time For Sorrow (2008)

Metal at its absolute finest! Hemlock has talent and potential to be at the top of the metal world. They have toured with such bands as Lamb Of God, Disturbed, Slayer, Machine Head, Slipknot, Otep, Sepultra, and other huge names. If you don’t think this is an impressive resume then you can go straight to hell!

Surprisingly, Hemlock is only a three-piece band. When listening to No Time For Sorrow I felt pure power pouring through my speaker system, giving me the impression that Hemlock must have at least five or six members. It is hard to believe that Chad Smith plays the bass guitar as well as he does while he fills out the position of lead vocalist. This fact alone is reason enough for me to sell my soul to have the honour of witnessing Hemlock’s live performance (afterall, they are on tour approximately nine months a year!).

Every track on No Time For Sorrow is captivating. Not once did I skip through a song because I felt it wasn’t up to par with the rest of the album. For that I give props to Hemlock, because it is fairly difficult to hold my attention for such a long period of time. I warn you, if you sit down and begin listening to this album you will NOT stop until the album is done. Make sure you have, at minimum, forty-two minutes of your precious time to devote to your CD player before pressing the play button.

One track I must recommend you check out is “World of the Transparent”. This is one song that shows you all of the talent that Hemlock holds within its roster. Smith’s masterful vocals, along with his bass playing, are enough to make you orgasm. The song also gives a good taste of Bryan Gentry’s eerie backup vocals, as well as his expertise on the six-string. Finally, you get the pleasure of hearing some loud, thumping noises from drummer Steve Baca. Basically, this track gives you a good taste of the band’s overall abilities.

Do yourself a favour and order this album from your local CD distributor. If you are a fan of any of the bands they have toured with you will dig their music. No Time For Sorrow was a pleasure to listen to.  [ END ]
