Paul Dianno

The Living Dead (2006)

The original voice of Iron Maiden is back with a new release that is bound to leave longtime fans of the band standing with their mouth open in amazement. The Living Dead is packaged as a two disc set with the studio release on one and a DVD containing the video for the first single “Living Dead” as well as a candid and very interesting interview with Paul himself talking about the early days of Maiden as well as new biographical material.

As far as the music goes this album rocks all the way through. The album has influences from the early days with Maiden, but it showcases Paul’s own creativity and progression as a songwriter and musician in his own right.

There are plenty of great songs on this disc, but the title track “Living Dead” and “S.A.T.A.N.” are well crafted and hard rocking standouts. The disc includes two live bonus tracks “Wrathchild” and “Phantom of the Opera” which are guaranteed to satisfy the old Maiden fans.

It is great to see that Paul has succeeded in creating his own musical identity while not straying far from his roots. Metal heads of all ages will enjoy this record from start to finish. I give this CD an 8.5 out of 10. There are 13 tracks on this disc with a total running time of 58:59.  [ END ]
