Album Review
Finger Eleven
Them VS. You VS. Me (2007)
You don’t know how long I’ve waited for new Finger Eleven material, and it’s here! Well, you do know it’s been 2 years, but I waited and waited! I love the fact that their first single “Paralyzer” has been well received here on home turf and down south. They always come out with something new, and fresh. It’s about time people we’re getting this band. I also love the fact that most radio stations are playing them, since when does Chum FM spin cool rock tunes?
Y’all might think I’m nuts but does the intro to “Paralyzer” sound like “Love in an Elevator” by Aerosmith… with the “aaaah”? Anyway…. So back to the album, chalked with rock numbers this is a beaut! Scott Anderson’s voice is ridiculously awesome in his delivery and I just can’t get over the fact that these guys remain so original.
“Falling On” their second single of the disc is so catchy, you’ll be singing it in the shower… er and if you don’t shower, you stink, but you have really great taste in music.
“I’ll Keep You’re Memory Vague” is a great slow track, but there’s something about the song “First Time” released in 2006 that I will never let go of, that song is my favourite Finger Eleven songs ever. I didn’t even finish listening to this new song and I already love it, but it will never take the place of “First Time.”
The new album delivers solid rock tunes, while two songs inject a bit of eclectic sounds to the record; songs like “Talking to the Walls” and “Window Song” for example.
Finger Eleven never disappoint with their releases and yet again they have delivered a solid rock album! Their lyrics are meticulously crafted, and music penned is tighter than ever. You won’t skip over any tracks, and even though “Paralyzer” is played every hour on the hour you will never get sick of it.
We really do have some great talent here in the Great White North. I really hope the band can get to a level where they are respected as great rock veterans.
