Beavis and Butt-Head will forever be immortalized in pop culture. I myself have been an avid Beavis and Butt-Head fan since the show first started. Its innovative and crude humor mixed with a different looking image, made it rather popular really fast. MTV is one of the world’s biggest known television stations, and it was home to Beavis and Butt-Head for many years. Together the station and the cult phenomenon grew immensely and now the duo have an extremely large following world wide. With all that being said, many people including myself were eagerly awaiting the release of the Mike Judge Collection Volume 1.

After watching all 40 episodes, plus the bonus features that were spread over 3 discs, I found my self thinking that there were a lot of great moments on the DVD. It brought back old memories, and was certainly funny, but it failed to deliver what I was expecting.

A lot of my favorite parts were cut out of many of the 40 episodes that were put onto the collection. The way I see it is if you’re going to make a collection of 40 episodes for the fans, don’t cut out material the fans loved… it is what made them fans in the first place. In my opinion a lot of great material was cut needlessly from the collection.

I also think they should have released Beavis and Butt-Head season by season. Cramming 40 episodes on one collection was a good idea, but having to cut out key parts left me feeling a little disappointed and ripped off.

Nevertheless, over all the DVD is damn funny. It is filled with many classic episodes that will bring back numerous memories to all Beavis and Butt-Head fans. I liked the 3rd disc the most because I always enjoyed the part of the show where Beavis and Butt-Head sat on the couch while reviewing and mocking music videos. All of that was cut from each of the 40 episodes, however, they almost make up for it by including some of the better music video reviews on the 3rd bonus disc.

I actually find myself watching the 3rd disc over and over. Some of the episodes on disc one and two are also really funny, while others from the earlier years (when they show wasn’t really that funny) sure they seemed funny back then, but watching them now make them seem a little lackluster.

In closing the DVD is great for reliving old memories, but it is disappointing in the sense that what the fans really want, wasn’t delivered. It is still good none the less, and it is a great watch worth the price. I do hope they release each season on its own and un-cut, but for now, this release is the best thing out there in order to enjoy one of your favorite old-school cartoon shows. Lets hope this isn’t the last we see of Beavis and Butt-Head in DVD form!  [ END ]
